Where Do Manufacturers Get Their Materials from in the First Place?

Some of the lead that Chinese manufacturers have been using to make cheap jewelry comes from an unconventional source: computers and other electronic goods discarded in Western countries and dumped in China. The United Nations estimates that as many as 50 million tons of so-called e-waste are thrown away world-wide each year.
