HK recalls toy paint over lead levels

Hong Kong has recalled a mainland-made toy paint that contains excessive levels of lead, the International Herald Tribune reported. A Hong Kong government laboratory found that the Six Color face and body makeup color paint contained dangerous levels of lead, chromium and barium. Health authorities said ingesting the paint, either orally or through skin absorption, could cause illness, learning disabilities and behavioral problems in children. The Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, which issued the recall, said the toy paint posed a "high risk" to poisoning children. The customs department did not name the manufacturer, though it has given its test findings to product safety authorities on the mainland and abroad.
