ERP market continues to grow and consulting firms are still having a good time

ERP has been around for quite a bit but beside the consolidation which is happening, there is still a significant growth rate in the market. This is good news for the implementation consultants such as Accenture, Capgemini, EDS and the Indian newcomers as they are adding more and more ERP people to their workforce. For example EDS recently announced that it is going to continue to expand its SAP workforce.

According to an article which I recently read in Wall Street Journal, the reason for this continuous growth is that many of the systems that companies are using today aren't designed for the Internet age. People want to access the information from anywhere in the world and businesses want to share data with customers. You can't do that with many of the ERP systems that companies are using now, at least not securely. Getting to that point is going to require a new approach to ERP – and a whole lot of money.
